The Launching of the document "A Manifesto for the Life on the Sea"
The Fundación Ecocentro has published the document ´A Manifesto for the Life in the Sea¨ written jointly by philosopher Santiago Kovadloff and the president of this foundation, Alfredo Lichter. The Manifesto is a declaration of principles concerning the rationale for the establishment of this organization. The document proposes not only the philosophy and accomplishments of the foundation, but also aims at generating a reflection about the relationship between mankind and nature.
To achieve and preserve the life balance in the sea, something more radical is necessary than a defensive tendency to protect the species or to prevent the contamination of the Earth’s water. It is necessary to think before anything else how we will shape our lives while so many people need clean waters and species should not be deadly affected by the abuse resulting from irresponsible predating attitudes. Since as individuals, we essentially dialogue with each other, we cannot be born except from the conscience of our failed history. But as this conscience never finishes building it up, the individual who is important to us, never finishes being born. He is a perpetual work, a project that never ceases, however stays vital. ¨When we decide to give birth to this needed man, at that time; we will be learning how to look after the sea¨ wrote Kovadloff and Lichter.
The environment, the sea, humanity, new vision, and conscience are the key concepts through which this document reflects the philosophy of Fundación Ecocentro. All these elements are reflected on the website of the institution: www.ecocentro.org.ar.

A Book to Know and Admire Patagonia
The Fundación Ecocentro and Editorial El Ateneo launched the Spanish version of the book ¨Patagonia, The Great Spaces and the Natural Wildlife¨ by the well known American naturalist, William Conway. The publication is the result of an alliance between Ecocentro and this publishing company that was signed last year. The objective of this initiative is to produce a series of books - by Argentinean and foreign authors- that cover various themes concerning nature and especially the sea. The initiative is part of the activities conducted by the foundation to promote a more harmonic attitude towards the oceans and the environment.

Fundación Ecocentro Opens New Exhibits in Puerto Madryn
¨Shadows and Rumours of Whales¨ and ¨The Remote and Deep Sea¨ are the names of two new exhibits that the Fundación Ecocentro opened in September 2007 in its Puerto Madryn facilities.
The room Shadows and Rumours of Whales is an integral exhibit about ¨the Southern Right Whale, an emblematic species of the Patagonian Sea. This exhibit portraits several panels providing information on the biology and ecology of these whales, and also includes a sensory room and a sound room.
The exhibit Remote and Deep Sea covers the geography and species that live in the deep sea. The exhibit, combining lights, images and sounds, portraits the bottom of the sea, providing for an integral sensory experience, and adding information directed to increase the public’s understanding of the mysteries of the deep sea.
The concept, design and construction of both exhibits were conducted by staff from the Fundación Ecocentro with the support of the National Secretary of Tourism, the Secretary of Tourism of the Chubut Province and YPF S.A.

Ecocentro Foundation´s New Webpage
Ecocentro Foundation has redesigned its Internet website (www.ecocentro.org.ar) . The new site has an interactive design and provides more information to better reflect the foundation’s spirit. The site includes 2 sections - one is clearly institutional and the other is dedicated to show in detail each of the many activities and initiatives in the areas of art, science and education that the organization has been working on. Much work and effort have been invested in developing this new website in order to reflect the quality, attractiveness and spirit of the work conducted by this institution. In that sense, the new website represents an important tool that certainly will offer visitors both an easily informative and a deeply appreciative experience.
